Evaluation of AS Foundation Production module  

Consider the following and give honest and realistic answers.

·       How successful was my research of real media? How could my research skills be improved? My research of real media was very successful, in terms of me gathering reliable and valid information, which was beneficial to my advantage when I was creating my media products. My research skills could have been improved by me extracting my information from a variety of sources, for example my research could have been gathered from reading books and many more.

•       How successful was my audience research? How could I have made my results more meaningful in order to take them into account when producing my media product? My audience research was very successful, due to the fact I used primary research (questionnaires) and secondary research (magazines etc). This provided me with a range of opinions and facts. I believe my results were 100% meaningful, this is because I gave my target audience a chance to project their opinions, and moreover made rational decisions to merge all opinions when producing my media product.

•       How successfully did I keep my blog up to date? How could I have made better use of its multimedia capacity? At first I did gather all my daily blog ideas onto Microsoft power point, and as time went on I then transferred them onto my online blog. This was only due to the fact that I did not have daily internet connection access in my home, due to my parents were  decisions on upgrading our broadband services.

•       How successfully did I manage my time? How could I have organised my production more effectively? How could I have improved my planning and drafting process (and showing evidence of these stages for the examiner? I managed my time, by using my revision time table to finish my work in a set time period. I did this daily. I could have organised my production by simply just planning more. I tried my hardest to present an effective plan, I do not know how I could have improved my drafting, because it was my original idea, and improving my draft will only decrease my originality and exclude the ideas from my audience feedback. However I don't believe that my drafts were not as detailed as they could have been, so next time I will make my drafts more detailed.

•       How successfully did I follow the conventions of real media? Where could I have improved? I was very successful at following the  conventions, as I did merely replicate many hip hop/ pop genre magazines (as that was my chosen genre) such as VIBE magazine. Vibe magazine is a very successful magazine, so I thought by following these conventions, It may increase the success of my own media product.

•       Which technology skills did I learn and develop? Which skills do I need to improve/learn in the future? I learnt how to use Adobe Photoshop CS4, before choosing media, I had no idea how to operate this software. I do need to improve my skills on blogging online. In future I hope to have learned how to successfully blog without any difficulties, however I am already learning how to successfully blog.

•       How successful was my creation of my media text? Could I have improved or been more creative? My media text was very successful because i followed conventions of a typical Hip hop/ pop magazines. This was presented by my secondary research. However I think it could have been improved, by my planned layout being more creative, and moreover changing my colour scheme to be more consistent throughout my entire magazine

•       Did my text fulfil the requirements of the brief in terms of Audience, Representation,Genre? Yes, I do believe that i fulfilled the requirements in terms of the audience; I believed that it was fulfilled due to my audience feedback, which were very positive. This clearly shows that it was successful. I also believed that mainly images represented my genre extremely well. My audience feedback, shows that they clearly recognised what my chosen genre was. My genre was easy to present through my media product, with the use of current famous Hip hop/ pop artists which was used to give my audience a clear idea of my chosen genre, moreover so that fans of these famous artists can be more interested with my product.

•       How detailed was my evaluation? How could you have improved your discussion of the success of the finished product? I personally believe that my evaluation was very detailed, it contained every detail of how I accomplished the research to how I produced the finished media product. It also included what I will change, keep the same, whether my finished product was successful, and many more.
